Reaching New Levels of Employee Engagement

Chicago, IL - On October 10 to 12, New Home Star hosted their first-ever Sales Rally featuring rigorous training, recognition, and team collaboration with the intention of delivering an adrenaline shot of performance for their builder partners. Hundreds of new home sales professionals from 22 states converged onto the sandy beaches of Cancún, Mexico to experience a career-changing event. The initiative was earned after agents nationwide not only accomplished, but exceeded a sales goal for May of 500 homes by 48 additional closings.

“Our organization’s number one asset is our people,” says VP of Organizational Development Keith McKinney. “Even though our internal employee satisfaction surveys consistently surpass the 90% mark, and our Glassdoor ratings stand at 4.9 out of 5, digital communication is not a viable substitute for in-person interactions. We must continue to find new ways to bring our geographically-dispersed organization together and create maximum value from each of these experiences,” he says. “In turn, this will allow us to attract talent of a higher caliber and reduce employee churn, building on our strategic goal of sustainability in the marketplace.”

The three-day initiative included world-class training aimed at improving sales conversion rates. Presented by New Home Star’s seasoned industry veterans, training sessions were divided into breakout groups that were segmented based on expertise levels. Audience members could select topics ranging from creating the perfect quarterly business plan to mastering buyer emotions during the sales process. This allowed attendees the flexibility to not only select sessions that were the most relevant to their needs, but ones that also matched their skill level.

The highlights of the event included an award ceremony on the beach that recognized the top performers of the year. Winners across five categories were awarded prizes and trophies in front of an audience of their peers. One of the winners, Nate Amidon, noted that, “Having the honor of going on stage in front of the entire organization made a huge impact on my career. I’ll be the first to say that New Home Star will be the only organization that I will ever work for.” The ceremony ended in epic fashion with a renowned Mayan show followed by fireworks launched from a barge on the ocean.

“Our goal as an organization is to build the best sales team in the world,” says Founder David Rice. “By creating a unique experience like our Sales Rally, New Home Star is able to offer value for our partners and our employees that builds upon this vision.” Due to the success of the event, New Home Star is planning to continue hosting the Sales Rally annually for years to come.
